The Mammut Barryvox is an intermediate level transceiver with 3 antennae and a Flagging (marking) function. It's based on the more advanced Barryvox S and removes the advanced functions leaving a simple to use transceiver but with plenty of clever technology working away behind the scenes.
Any users who want a simple, highly effective transceiver without having to use a menu or worry about optional functions then this is your go-to transceiver.
For the more advanced father transceiver we also stock the Mammut Barryvox S Transceiver.
Mammut Barryvox: How to use it
The Barryvox user-friendly interface has a 2-inch segmented screen which gives a clear display of the search instructions. In normal search mode, it will display the distance, direction, and number of received signals. The search/send/off switch is on the top of the device and features an automatic lock preventing it from being changed from sending by accident.
The mark button is on the front of the device and is easy to operate with gloves on. There are no other buttons on the Barryvox and its single-button operation will appeal to those who value simplicity or a beginner to using transceivers.
One of the most notable improvements from the old Barryvox element is the larger range that the Barryvox transceivers have, the strip search width is given as 70m which will allow the search area to be covered more quickly than before.
The Mammut Barrryvox can perform 3 different search options such as the following :
Signal search
Searching the surrounding area to the point where the first clearly audible signal can be detected.
Coarse search
Searching the area starting from the reception of the first signal until the immediate vicinity of the buried victim. In this phase, the signal search pattern is abandoned in order to follow the signals leading to the buried victim.
Fine search
Searching the area in the immediate vicinity of the victim.
The Barryvox is able to handle multiple burial situations well and has a flagging function which allows you to suppress the signal of a transceiver so you can continue to search whilst others dig up the victim.
Three AAA Alkaline batteries (Do not use rechargeable), Lithium, Oxyride, Powerpix or any other non-alkaline battery
Batter Life, 300 hours in send mode
The BarryMount is a high-quality carrying system for your Mammut Barryvox transceiver. It is easy to carry and can be quickly adjusted and opened or closed using one hand.
The carrying system almost completely rules out activation of the search mode, increasing your safety in the terrain. It protects the device from mechanical damage, whether on tours or during transport.
At the end of the season, you can simply wash the carrying system in the machine at 30 degrees, clean and ready to go.
Limited 2-year warranty and a 3-year guarantee on registering - All parts will be either repaired or replaced free of charge, including labour, by the manufacturer. This warranty does not cover damage to the product caused by improper use or excessive wear or tear.
Search mode
On the top of your device push the switch to the right to activate SEARCH mode, once it's positioned on the right-hand side of the transceiver it will stay in SEARCH mode.
To return from SEARCH to SEND, simply push the main switch to the left (indications on the transceiver).
Always make sure that the switch locks into position mechanically to avoid an undesired change of mode.
Return to transmit
Centre the switch position to put your transceiver into SEND (transmitting) mode.
For safety reasons, it is required to press the hinged unlock button to leave the SEND mode.
You can find the Mammut Barryvox within three different avalanche safety packages, Barryvox Package, Barryvox Light Package and Pro Light Package. This saves money when buying as a Package rather than purchasing each item separately.
For extra added safety we highly recommend the Recco Reflector, this band-aid size transponder can be added to your helmet or ski boots.
